Khawaja Asif praises Pakistan’s Iran-US peace role

Published on: June 26, 2026 4:57 PM

Pakistan’s role in helping ease the Iran-US conflict will be remembered forever, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Friday. He claimed Pakistan helped facilitate peace during the regional crisis through diplomatic efforts. His remarks highlight Islamabad’s emphasis on regional stability and its role in promoting dialogue.

Speaking to reporters in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif linked his comments to the significance of Ashura. He said the occasion arrived after a dangerous conflict in the region. Moreover, he praised the Iranian people for demonstrating resilience during difficult times. He added that their sacrifices reflected the enduring legacy of Imam Hussain (AS) and Karbala.

The defence minister said Pakistan played a meaningful role in reducing tensions between Iran and the United States. Furthermore, he claimed the country’s peace efforts earned respect across the Muslim world. He maintained that Pakistan emerged with honour by encouraging reconciliation instead of confrontation. However, he did not provide specific details about the diplomatic initiatives.

Khawaja Asif also addressed the broader regional situation during his media interaction. He expressed hope that the people of Lebanon would find relief from continued violence. Additionally, he prayed for freedom and justice for Muslims facing conflict in different parts of the world. He stressed the importance of peace, unity, and stability across the region.

Pakistan has consistently stated that diplomacy remains the best path for resolving regional disputes. Therefore, government officials continue to advocate dialogue over military escalation. Khawaja Asif’s latest remarks reinforce Islamabad’s public commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and regional cooperation.
