Iran’s acting Defense Minister, Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ibn Reza, said Tehran does not trust its adversaries and will respond if the ceasefire is violated. He warned that Iran remains fully prepared to take what he described as necessary action in response to any breach.
According to Iranian state media, the remarks came during a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. The Iranian official thanked Qatar for its role in efforts to help secure the ceasefire.
Seyed Majid Ibn Reza claimed that the opposing side had violated its commitments several times since the ceasefire took effect. He said Iran trusts neighboring Muslim countries, particularly Qatar, but does not trust its opponents.
He further warned that Iran’s “finger is on the trigger” and that any violation of the ceasefire agreement would be met with an immediate and appropriate response without hesitation.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei also said Iran does not trust the United States and warned that any future violation of the ceasefire would receive what he described as a strong response from Tehran.
