According to police, the child, identified as Muhammad Wali, disappeared from outside his home on Monday evening. After several hours of searching, his family registered a kidnapping case at Napier Police Station when efforts to locate him proved unsuccessful.
Police later recovered the boy’s body from Punjabi Gali in Napier. Officials said the body was found inside a sack and was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination. Authorities said medical and forensic reports will determine the exact cause of death and help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators have arrested the main suspect, identified as Hamza, who is a neighbour of the victim’s family. According to police, local residents detained the suspect before handing him over to law enforcement authorities. Officials said the suspect remains in custody while the investigation continues, and legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the inquiry.
The victim’s family has appealed to senior authorities to ensure a transparent investigation and provide justice. Family members alleged they searched continuously for the child before his body was recovered. They also claimed the suspect had appeared to assist in the search while refusing them access to his residence, where they believe the incident may have occurred. Police said these claims are being examined as part of the investigation.
The child’s father, who works as a rickshaw driver, said Muhammad Wali was his youngest child and only son among five siblings. The incident has deeply affected the family and shocked residents of the neighbourhood.
