
A condolence reference was held in Lahore to honor the late former Punjab chief minister Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, where political leaders, journalists, and intellectuals paid tribute to his political legacy. Speakers praised his tolerance, wisdom, and contributions to democratic politics. The event also marked a key organizational decision for the National Public Forum.
The reference was organized by the National Public Forum and attended by former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, senior journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Saeed Aasi, and several political and social figures. Family members, including Moazzam Wattoo, Khurram Wattoo, Jehan Ara Wattoo, Ayesha Wattoo, Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, and Mudassar Iqbal, also addressed the gathering.
During the meeting, participants unanimously appointed Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar as Chairman of the National Public Forum. Sarwar pledged to carry forward the forum according to the vision of Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo. He said the late leader’s tolerance, humility, and political maturity earned respect from allies and opponents alike.
Speaking on the occasion, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami said Mian Manzoor Wattoo remained calm even in difficult situations and never lost composure. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said Pakistan’s political landscape continues to miss experienced and visionary leaders like Wattoo. The speakers described his leadership style as inclusive, balanced, and focused on dialogue.
The condolence reference was also attended by Hafeezullah Niazi, Dr. Sughra Sadaf, Noorullah Siddiqui, Khalid Farooqi, Anwar Samra, and Khawar Saleem. Participants offered prayers for the departed leader and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving his political vision through the National Public Forum.
