
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian by telephone to discuss the recent regional tensions and the importance of peace. During the conversation, Pakistan Iran relations remained a key focus as both sides stressed dialogue, cooperation, and respect for mutual commitments to support stability in the region.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of honoring the commitments made under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He said the agreement provides a strong foundation for mutual understanding, respect, and shared prosperity for the region and beyond.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan will continue to play a positive and sincere role in promoting regional peace and stability. He added that Pakistan is ready to support all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging peaceful solutions through dialogue.
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei. The leaders discussed the importance of maintaining close communication during the current regional situation.
The Prime Minister also held a separate telephone conversation with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar following the recent attacks. He said strengthening Pakistan Iran relations and maintaining cooperation with regional partners remain important for lasting peace and stability.
