Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia and exchanged views on the recent developments in the region.
They expressed deep concern over the escalations despite the signing of the Islamabad MoU between the United States and Iran in June 2026. They agreed that the renewed conflict serves no one’s interest and undermines efforts toward regional peace and stability.
The Saudi Foreign Minister shared the Kingdom’s perspective on ongoing diplomatic efforts and emphasized the importance of de-escalation and continued dialogue. DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and allow mediation efforts the necessary time and space to achieve a peaceful and meaningful outcome. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
Separately, Dar held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Maldives Dr. Iruthisham Adam and exchanged views on regional and international developments.
During the meeting, the Adam appreciated Pakistan’s role in mediating the Iran-US conflict.
Separately, Dar on Saturday, underscored the significance of Pakistan-UK bilateral relations.
The FM directed the High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom to redouble efforts to further deepen and broaden the partnership between the two countries across political, economic, and people-to-people domains.
Tipu Usman Chaudhry, High Commissioner-designate of Pakistan to the United Kingdom, called on the FM, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
The FM further highlighted that the UK was home to one of the largest, most dynamic, and vibrant Pakistani diasporas in the world. He emphasized that extending proactive consular services and welfare support to the overseas Pakistani community must remain a top priority for the High Commission.
