Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a major government reshuffle, confirming his decision to replace Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as part of a broader effort to implement a new political strategy. Following the announcement, the prime minister and her cabinet submitted their resignations, paving the way for the formation of a new government.

In a statement issued on Sunday, President Zelensky said the planned changes were intended to improve the effectiveness of governance and support the country’s evolving priorities. He noted that the restructuring would be carried out in cooperation with parliament but did not identify a successor for the position of prime minister or specify what new role Svyrydenko might assume.
The Ukrainian president also announced upcoming changes in the leadership of law enforcement agencies. However, he did not provide detailed reasons for the appointments or explain the scope of the planned restructuring within the country’s security institutions.
In a message shared on social media, Zelensky praised Svyrydenko for her service, describing her tenure as consistent, focused and effective. He revealed that he had offered her responsibility for leading a new area of cooperation with one of Ukraine’s key international partners, though additional details were not disclosed.
Svyrydenko, an economist by profession, became prime minister in July 2025. Before assuming the country’s top executive office, she served as deputy head of the presidential office and previously held the position of deputy prime minister overseeing economic development and trade.
The government changes come at a time when Ukraine continues to face challenges linked to governance and accountability. In recent months, several high-profile corruption investigations have increased public and political scrutiny of state institutions. Among them is the widely reported “Midas case,” involving alleged financial irregularities at the state-owned energy company Energoatom.
