President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior federal ministers reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination on Accession to Pakistan Day. They said the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions while reiterating Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, political and moral support for the people of Kashmir.

Moreover, President Zardari described the occasion as a reflection of the Kashmiri people’s historic aspirations and the longstanding historical, cultural and spiritual ties between Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the international community to take notice of alleged human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and called on the United Nations to ensure implementation of its relevant resolutions.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said July 19 marks the anniversary of the 1947 resolution adopted by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar, which expressed the political aspirations of the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the day symbolises the enduring relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir, founded on shared history, faith, culture, geography and mutual affinity.

Furthermore, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif paid tribute to Kashmiri migrants, members of the armed forces, martyrs and veterans, saying their sacrifices strengthened Pakistan’s enduring bond with Kashmir. He added that the upcoming election carries significance for the Kashmir cause and reflects the commitment to safeguarding the interests and rights of the Kashmiri people.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also honoured Kashmiri martyrs and Hurriyat leaders, describing the July 19, 1947 resolution as a historic milestone in the Kashmiri freedom movement. He reiterated that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Kashmir and will continue extending unconditional and principled support for their internationally recognised right to self-determination.
