An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has granted police a seven-day physical remand of the suspect accused of killing Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Group Captain Asim Tariq after investigators confirmed that eye witnesses had identified him during a formal identification parade.

The suspect, Saad Abbasi, was produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court, where police sought a 20-day physical remand to continue their investigation. However, the court approved a seven-day remand, allowing investigators additional time to collect evidence and complete further inquiries.
During the hearing, the prosecution informed the court that two eyewitnesses, identified as Kamran and Waseem, had successfully recognized the suspect during an identification parade conducted at Adiala Jail. Prosecutors argued that the identification was an important step in strengthening the investigation into the high-profile murder case.
Court proceedings also witnessed an emotional moment when the accused reportedly broke down in tears.
