Arrest Rao Anwars of Punjab police, demands Qadri

Published on: January 28, 2018 6:53 PM

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri said on Sunday that the dozens of Rao Anwars in Punjab roam free despite oppressing the citizens.

Speaking to a press conference in Lahore, Qadri claimed that dozens of police officers in Punjab are committing atrocities against the citizens and that such officers should be arrested.

“There are dozens of Rao Anwars in Lahore who are openly operating and we strongly demand their arrest,” said the PAT chief.

Qadri also claimed that the police were ordered to kill innocent citizens during Model Town protest in 2014.

“The state cannot be allowed to killed citizens, and were the victims of the Model Town incident on June 17, 2014 not citizens?,” said Qadri.

PAT chief also asked the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan to take notice of police officers of Punjab just like the apex court has ordered arrest of Rao Anwar, who headed the alleged encounter of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

“The Supreme Court is constitutionally bound to pay attention to the Rao Anwars of Lahore the same way that it is doing in other provinces,” he added.
