Farooq Sattar removed from MQM-P Rabita Committee convenership

Published on: February 11, 2018 10:24 PM

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Rabita Committee removed Farooq Sattar from party convenership on Sunday saying that he ‘breached the committee’s trust’.

Speaking to a press conference, MQM-P member Kanwar Naveed Jameel announced the decision. He accused Farooq Sattar of making amendment’s in party constitution without consultation with the committee.

Jameel also accused the former committee convener of inducting and removing party members at his own will and without bringing things into the committee’s knowledge.

Party member Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has been appointed the new convener of MQM-P Rabita Committee.

In response to the decision to oust him from convenership, Farooq Sattar said that the decision has proven the rift between MQM-P was not about Senate elections, rather about party leadership.

Talking to the media, Sattar responded to allegations leveled against him saying that if the accusations were true, ‘why did the committee wait for Senate elections to act on them?’. He also called the decision a ‘conspiracy’ against him.
