QUETTA: At least five policemen were gunned down and 19 persons including police officials injured after unidentified gunmen attacked the Deputy Inspector general (DIG) of police office in Loralai, Balochistan on Tuesday.
The incident took place when four unidentified gunmen entered DIG of police office and opened fire on the office and threw a hand grenade inside.
The attack occurred when the DIG was interviewing people for jobs.
Sources told that two of the four attackers were killed in retaliatory police fire.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Four of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
Other two suspects managed to escape. The police are monitoring the entry and exit points of the district, while the search for the suspects is under way. Fifteen officials, including DIG Nisar Ahmed Khan, were safely evacuated from the office.
