A judicial magistrate, on Monday, ordered a man suspected of beating his wife and shaving her hair head back to jail to await a medical report on his victim’s injuries.
Judicial Magistrate Shahid Zia was hearing the Asma Aziz torture case at Model Town Courts when he said he would give his verdict after looking at the medical report of the accuser. She claims she was tortured by her husband, Mian Faisal and his friends because she refused to dance for his friends on March 24.
Asma appeared in a video making rounds on social media and news channels, begging for justice. The viral video stirred the authorities to action and the Kahna police arrested the suspects on March 27.
The woman alleged Faisal had frequently forced her to dance for his friends previously On that fateful day, however, she refused to fulfil his demand. Upon which, he started beating her with a plastic pipe and then shaved her hair off with the help of his employee Rashid Ali.
The registered case led to the arrests of the husband and one of his employees, who were then produced before the court. The suspects were remanded into police custody for investigation.
The two were produced at the Model Town Courts after the culmination of their four-day physical remand.
Asma was also present in Monday’s hearing along with her lawyers, where she urged the court to bring her husband to justice. In her statement, she declared she was subjected to torture for her refusal to dance before friends of her husband.
Police also submitted an investigation report and recovered material before the court. The investigation officer remarked police had recovered a trimmer, woman’s hair and a pipe used in the alleged torture.
Asma maintained she had married Faisal four years earlier but her husband had soon turned hostile. Only six months after their wedding, he had started misbehaving with her and used to torture her over petty issues.
On Monday, Faisal asserted he was ready to accept his punishment if he was proven guilty. Yet, he should first be given the chance to narrate his side of the story, he added.
“You [the media] have been advocates for Asma for the past one week-give an hour to me and listen to what I have to say,” the suspect maintained while talking to reporters upon his arrival at the court. He stressed, “I will accept any punishment I am given.” AGencies
