Spain Confirmed as Host for 2027 UEFA Champions League Final

Published on: May 20, 2025 6:33 PM

Spain has officially been selected to host the 2027 UEFA Champions League final, with the prestigious event set to take place at Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium on June 5, 2027. The announcement was made by Sports Minister Pilar Alegría on Tuesday.

The stadium, which last hosted the final in 2019 when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, will once again welcome Europe’s top clubs and fans for the continent’s most anticipated football fixture.

UEFA reopened the bidding process for the 2027 final after Milan’s San Siro was withdrawn due to renovation-related concerns. Among the alternative candidates was Baku’s Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan, but Spain’s successful bid has now been confirmed.

Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), said he was pleased with UEFA’s ruling and emphasised Spain’s ongoing desire to organise important football events. He also hinted at future bids from other Spanish cities, particularly Seville.

Why not aim for a future European final to be held in Seville? With the support of the Federation, we’ll propose it to UEFA. The city and its stadium are more than ready,” Louzán stated.

While eyes are already turning to 2027, football fans are also gearing up for this year’s final. The 2025 UEFA Champions League final is set for June 1 at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Paris Saint-Germain will face Inter Milan in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Inter Milan booked their spot in the final after edging past Barcelona in the semi-finals, while PSG overcame Arsenal in a tightly contested tie. The upcoming final presents PSG with a golden opportunity to win their first-ever Champions League title, while Inter Milan will be aiming to lift the trophy once again and add to their European legacy.
