PM Shehbaz meets Iranian envoy to discuss escalating middle east tensions

Published on: June 23, 2025 2:05 PM

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting on Monday with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, at the Prime Minister’s House. The discussion came just hours before a scheduled National Security Committee (NSC) meeting.

During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions and broader regional developments. The conversation focused on promoting peace, stability, and a diplomatic solution to rising geopolitical concerns.

According to official sources, the Iranian ambassador briefed the prime minister on the current state of the Iran-Israel-U.S. conflict and conveyed Iran’s official stance on the matter. He emphasized Iran’s desire to avoid further escalation.

In response, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability. He stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving international conflicts and avoiding further bloodshed.

This high-level meeting is being seen as a key diplomatic step, especially amid increasing global concern over the Middle East crisis. It reflects Pakistan’s efforts to maintain balanced foreign relations and promote conflict resolution through peaceful means.

The engagement highlights Islamabad’s active role in encouraging dialogue during uncertain times, further underlining the importance of responsible leadership in regional affairs.
