GAZA CITY — At least 12 Palestinians were killed Monday during Israeli military operations in Gaza, including six people struck in an airstrike on the Al-Rimal clinic, which serves as a shelter for hundreds displaced by over 21 months of ongoing conflict, officials said.
The Al-Rimal clinic, located in Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood, was hit unexpectedly, leaving survivors in shock as dust and debris filled the building. Civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal confirmed 15 others were injured in the attack, highlighting the dire conditions faced by civilians in densely populated shelters.
In southern Gaza, two people were killed and 20 wounded by Israeli gunfire while waiting for aid near a distribution center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US- and Israel-backed organization tasked with food relief but criticized for chaotic operations and repeated deadly incidents at its facilities.
The United Nations reported last week that more than 500 people have died waiting to receive food aid from GHF points, while Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry claims the toll is even higher, at 751.
Further strikes in Khan Yunis killed two in a house and one more person by gunfire. An airstrike on a separate house in Gaza City also killed one and injured several others.
Israeli military sources state they targeted “dozens of terrorists, weapons depots, and terror infrastructures” over the past day, but media restrictions in Gaza limit independent verification of casualties.
The ongoing conflict has left more than 57,000 Palestinians dead, predominantly civilians, according to Gaza’s health ministry, figures supported by UN assessments. Out of 251 hostages taken during recent hostilities, 49 remain captive, with Israeli forces reporting 27 deaths among them.
