Sydney Sweeney hints at interest in joining ‘Barbie’ sequel

Published on: July 8, 2025 5:40 PM

Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney has revealed her interest in being part of the next Barbie movie. In a recent interview with Bustle, the 27-year-old actress said she would love to join the cast, especially because she admires Margot Robbie’s work.

“I’d have to read a script, but I’m a huge, huge fan of Margot, so I would not be opposed to it,” Sydney stated. Her comments have sparked excitement among fans who are already looking forward to the possibility of a Barbie sequel. The first film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, was a massive success.

The original Barbie movie, released in 2023, earned over $1.4 billion at the global box office. Its mix of fantasy, comedy, and cultural commentary made it one of the most talked-about films of the year. With such success, speculation about a sequel has been growing rapidly.

Meanwhile, Sydney also opened up about her return to the hit HBO series Euphoria, ahead of its third season. “I’m so happy to be back. It feels like I’m with my OG family,” she said, reflecting on her long journey with the show, which she joined at age 20.

Although Euphoria has a hectic filming schedule, Sydney shared that she tries to maintain balance by spending time in Idaho. “I go home to see my family, go slalom skiing, and hang out with my dogs. I love a low-key summer,” she added.

Season three of Euphoria is expected to release in 2026. With both the Barbie sequel buzz and Euphoria’s return, Sydney Sweeney continues to make waves in the entertainment world.
