Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that ongoing global conflicts reflect the failure to implement UN Security Council resolutions. Speaking at a high-level UN Security Council debate on multilateralism and peaceful conflict resolution, he stressed that unresolved crises and rising tensions worldwide are alarming indicators of this failure.
Dar emphasized that it was an honor for Pakistan to preside over this key UN session. He said Pakistan is committed to upholding the UN Charter, international law, and principles of multilateralism. He also praised the leadership and vision of the UN Secretary-General during the debate.
He welcomed the strong participation of member states and the unanimous approval of a resolution tabled by Pakistan. He said this support clearly shows the international community’s collective commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. Dar expressed Pakistan’s gratitude to all member states for backing the resolution.
Highlighting specific global crises, Dar said many regional conflicts have turned into prolonged wars. These wars have caused immense human suffering, mass displacement, and loss of hope in justice. He added that lasting peace cannot be achieved through force or unilateral actions, but only through mutual respect and inclusive diplomacy.
On Gaza, Dar said the violence and killings remain a human tragedy, with over 58,000 Palestinians martyred. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s demand for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire. He also reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for a two-state solution and added that Pakistan is committed to peace in South Asia and continues to play a vital role in UN peacekeeping missions.
