ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged global leaders to take immediate action to stop the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, calling it “a test of our shared humanity.” He described the crisis as not just a regional conflict, but a defining moral challenge for the world.
Speaking at a recent public address, Anwar warned that entire families, including innocent children, are being wiped out, and people are dying of hunger due to Israel’s ongoing siege. He called the destruction in Gaza a “horrific violation of basic human dignity” and said it shatters the fundamental values that the international community claims to uphold.
The Malaysian leader emphasized that Malaysia stands ready to work with any nation to ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza. He appealed to all countries that believe in international law to come together and raise a unified voice. “Nations that value life, dignity, and justice must not remain silent,” he said.
Anwar also urged countries with influence over Israel to use their leverage. Without naming them directly in parts of his speech, he specifically called on U.S. President Donald Trump to press Israel to stop the bombardment and allow unrestricted humanitarian access to the besieged territory. He stressed that “this is the time for moral leadership, not political convenience.”
In a powerful closing message, the Malaysian prime minister warned that the world must not become a “silent spectator.” He called on global leaders to “listen to their conscience, respond with compassion, and act for peace.” He added, “Let us not be remembered as those who stood by while humanity was under attack.”
