Bangladesh’s former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque was arrested in connection with a murder case. Police took him into custody from his home and presented him in court. Following the hearing, a Dhaka court ordered his detention.
Khairul Haque faces charges related to the killing of a young protester during last year’s student movement. The case was filed by a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). A total of 465 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are named in the case.
In addition to this murder case, Khairul Haque is also facing three other cases, including charges of rebellion and fraud. The arrest marks a significant development in a politically sensitive legal matter in Bangladesh.
