India set to face Pakistan in WCL semifinal clash

Published on: July 30, 2025 1:30 PM

In a dramatic twist, India will face Pakistan in the semifinal of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, despite boycotting the group-stage match. The much-anticipated showdown is scheduled for July 31 in Birmingham, with fans eagerly waiting to see if India will play this time.

India reached the semifinals after defeating West Indies in a must-win match. Meanwhile, Pakistan secured the top spot on the points table by crushing Australia with a 10-wicket win on Tuesday. With South Africa and Australia already through, the semifinal line-up is now complete.

During the group stage, India refused to play against Pakistan, leading to a canceled match. Reports claimed Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh objected to competing against a team that included Shahid Afridi.

Organizers expressed disappointment over the canceled match, as it was one of the most awaited fixtures of the tournament. However, fate has brought the rivals together again, and attention now shifts to whether India will stick to their stance or take the field.

On the same day, Australia will face South Africa in the second semifinal. Cricket fans around the world are hopeful that sportsmanship will prevail, allowing both semifinals to proceed without further controversy.

As tensions rise, the WCL semifinal between India and Pakistan has become more than just a cricket match. It now symbolizes a test of professionalism, unity, and respect for the spirit of the game.
