COAS Asim Munir calls for unity against hybrid threats

Published on: August 2, 2025 11:28 AM

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), emphasized the importance of a whole-of-nation approach to tackle hybrid threats during his visit to Multan Garrison on Saturday. He highlighted the need for strong national unity and civil-military cooperation to counter emerging challenges and safeguard the country’s sovereignty. His remarks were shared through a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his visit to the Corps Headquarters, the COAS was briefed on the operational readiness and training activities of the formation. He expressed satisfaction over the high standards of preparedness and praised the professionalism of the troops. Asim Munir reaffirmed the Army’s firm commitment to defending Pakistan’s territorial integrity under all circumstances.

Later, the Army Chief held an interactive session with members of civil society and academia. He underlined that a united approach from all sectors of society is essential to face hybrid warfare, disinformation, and internal challenges. According to the COAS, building societal cohesion is just as important as strengthening the armed forces.

In a major development, Field Marshal Asim Munir also presided over the induction ceremony of the Z-10ME attack helicopter into Army Aviation. The state-of-the-art aircraft can perform precision strikes both day and night and is equipped with advanced radar and electronic warfare systems. Its addition significantly boosts the Army’s air combat capabilities.

Following the ceremony, the COAS witnessed a live firepower demonstration at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges. The Z-10ME helicopters showcased their strength in action, marking a major step forward in Army Aviation modernization. This move enhances Pakistan’s battlefield response and strengthens its ability to counter both aerial and ground threats.

While interacting with troops on the ground, the COAS praised their high morale and combat skills. He also appreciated their performance in demonstrating combined arms tactics, calling it a clear display of the Army’s readiness for modern warfare. The visit concluded with a warm welcome from the Corps Commander upon the COAS’s arrival at the garrison.
