YouTube adds TikTok-style tagging feature

Published on: August 4, 2025 5:15 PM

YouTube is introducing a new feature that allows users to tag others directly in their videos. This update is inspired by Instagram and TikTok’s collaboration tools. It will help viewers find new content and follow creators more easily. Currently, the feature is available only to a limited group of users. However, YouTube plans to launch it for everyone soon.

The new tagging tool works similarly to Instagram and TikTok’s collaboration feature. Users can tag collaborators in their videos, linking to their profiles. When viewers click the main creator’s name, a pop-up will show the tagged collaborators. Each collaborator will have a subscribe button next to their name. This design encourages more subscriptions and connections between users.

Tagged users must accept an invitation to appear in a video. This ensures that creators approve who is linked to their content. Once accepted, collaborators will be recognized on the video’s page. This system promotes trust and allows creators to control their collaborations. It also helps prevent unwanted tagging or spam.

YouTube aims to make content discovery easier with this feature. It encourages more interaction and cooperation between creators. The company believes this will improve user experience on the platform. By expanding social features, YouTube hopes to compete better with Instagram and TikTok. The move reflects the growing trend of collaborative content online.

YouTube’s new tagging feature adds a social layer to video sharing. It makes finding and following creators simpler for viewers. Although currently limited, the rollout will expand soon. This update highlights YouTube’s focus on innovation and user engagement. It marks a step forward in blending video and social media experiences.
