PM Shehbaz demands India revoke illegal Kashmir actions

Published on: August 5, 2025 3:07 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the international community to press India to reverse its unilateral actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), taken on August 5, 2019. He said the resolution of the Kashmir dispute remains central to Pakistan’s foreign policy and called for action against India’s ongoing human rights violations in the region.

In his message on Youm-e-Istehsal, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of India’s illegal steps aimed at changing the region’s demography and political identity. He emphasized that these actions defy international laws and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Shehbaz Sharif said India has continued to reject peace and stability in favor of violence and unilateralism. He warned that the denial of Kashmiris’ basic rights and dignity is fueling regional instability, which cannot be resolved through force or occupation.

He also denounced India’s state terrorism and its crackdown on Kashmiri leadership. He highlighted the imprisonment of leaders like Shabbir Shah, Yasin Malik, and Masarrat Alam Bhatt, saying their detention will never weaken the spirit of the Kashmiri people.

The prime minister further said India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir remains the biggest unresolved issue in South Asia and a root cause of India’s aggressive behavior. He cited India’s military aggression against Pakistan in May 2025 as proof of its destabilizing role in the region.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s full diplomatic, moral, and political support for Kashmiris, PM Shehbaz said the only solution lies in respecting their right to self-determination as promised by UN resolutions.
