PIA shifts operations to Lahore amid Sialkot flood crisis

Published on: August 30, 2025 7:22 PM

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily moved its flight operations from Sialkot to Lahore due to severe flooding at Sialkot International Airport. In an official announcement, PIA stated that the flight suspension at Sialkot follows a notice from the airport authorities regarding the ongoing flood situation.

As a result, all PIA flights originally scheduled to operate from Sialkot will now depart and arrive at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore. Passengers have been advised to contact the airline’s call center at 786-786-111 for up-to-date flight schedules to avoid inconvenience.

The floods, caused by relentless monsoon rains and water discharge from India, have severely affected Sialkot, which has experienced record rainfall this year. Pakistan’s flood crisis has displaced over 210,000 people, with 831 confirmed deaths since the beginning of the monsoon season in late June.

Sialkot International Airport’s spokesperson confirmed that flight operations will be suspended until 10:00 PM on August 31, while airport staff work around the clock to drain floodwaters. The airport’s equipment, including dewatering pumps, is being closely monitored to ensure safety.

Passengers are urged to stay informed and plan accordingly as Sialkot works to restore full operations.
