Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday warned of severe flooding at Head Trimmu and said it will take approximately two days for floodwater to reach the Guddu Barrage. Authorities are on high alert.
CM Shah estimated that between 800,000 to 1,100,000 cusecs of water could enter Sindh. He stressed the importance of protecting people, their homes, and livestock, while coordinating assistance from the Pakistan Army and Navy.
He highlighted that the period from September 4 to 6 will be critical for flood management. The Sindh government has prepared emergency plans to handle these extreme water flows and ensure public safety.
Murad Ali Shah personally visited the Flood Control Room at the Sindh Secretariat to monitor the situation. He instructed officials to remain vigilant and continuously update flood management strategies to prevent disasters.
During the visit, the Chief Minister met PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, who was briefed on the evolving flood situation. Bilawal directed authorities to take proactive measures to safeguard affected communities and critical infrastructure.
Officials continue to monitor rivers, barrages, and low-lying areas closely. Emergency response teams remain ready, and residents are being advised to follow official guidelines to minimize the impact of incoming floodwaters.
