KP makes Durood Sharif mandatory in school assemblies

Published on: September 2, 2025 4:24 PM

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has mandated all schools to recite Durood Sharif three times during morning assemblies. This must be done after reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an and before the national anthem. The decision aims to reinforce religious values among students.

The Directorate of Elementary & Secondary Education in KP issued this directive. District education officers and other officials will visit schools to ensure assemblies maintain discipline and punctuality. They will also oversee activities like the recitation, national anthem, and announcements.

The official notification orders that after a few verses of the Qur’an, students recite Durood Sharif thrice, followed by the national anthem. The move emphasizes religious practice alongside national pride in school routines.

KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur shared the notification on his Facebook page. He said this step aligns with PTI chairman Imran Khan’s vision of the State of Madinah. Imran Khan had promised reforms inspired by Islamic principles during his prime ministership.

The new rule reflects KP’s focus on integrating faith into education. Schools across the province will now include Durood Sharif in daily assemblies to promote religious harmony and discipline among students.
