Pakistan, China sign $4 billion agricultural MoUs

Published on: September 6, 2025 6:34 PM

Pakistan and China have signed agricultural memorandums of understanding worth $4 billion in Beijing. Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain attended the historic signing with Chinese companies. According to the Ministry of National Food Security, a total of 24 MoUs were finalized under the agreement. The deals aim to enhance cooperation in farming, trade, and agricultural development between the two countries.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said the agreements will strengthen Pakistan’s food security and boost export capacity. He highlighted that China’s $215 billion agricultural import market presents huge opportunities for Pakistan. The MoUs cover multiple areas, including crop production, technology transfer, and agro-based industries. Officials expect these measures to improve the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani agricultural products.

The minister also emphasized Pakistan’s ability to supply agricultural goods at competitive prices. This could give Pakistan a significant advantage in global markets. By leveraging Chinese investments, Pakistan aims to modernize its agriculture sector. Both countries plan to collaborate on infrastructure, supply chains, and research initiatives. This partnership is expected to increase efficiency and productivity across the sector.

In addition, the MoUs include initiatives to promote exports and strengthen bilateral trade ties. Pakistani businesses will have better access to Chinese markets for grains, fruits, and other crops. The agreements also outline plans for joint ventures, technology exchanges, and training programs for farmers. This partnership is likely to create new employment opportunities in rural areas.

Officials say the agreements mark a historic step in Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation. The $4 billion investment is expected to boost economic growth and regional trade. Experts believe the collaboration will enhance Pakistan’s role in global agriculture markets. Both governments are committed to implementing the MoUs efficiently and monitoring their progress closely.
