Qatar’s Prime Minister has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrike on Doha, calling it a major blow to peace efforts. He warned that the attack shattered all hope for the release of hostages held in Gaza. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu directly responsible. He also demanded that Netanyahu be brought to justice for his actions.
This was the first attack of its kind on Qatar, a Gulf state long seen as a neutral ground for diplomacy. The strike targeted Hamas leaders residing in Doha, reportedly killing six people. Although senior Hamas officials survived, the incident has shaken the region. Qatar is now reassessing its role in future ceasefire talks. The Prime Minister also confirmed that Qatar is in contact with Washington over next steps.
The airstrike came just three months after Iran targeted a U.S. airbase in Qatar. That event had already raised concerns over regional stability. Now, this Israeli strike threatens to undermine Qatar’s mediation efforts. It also puts pressure on U.S. security guarantees for Gulf allies. The timing and scale of the strike have drawn sharp international reactions.
In response, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel will strike its enemies “anywhere.” Netanyahu warned Qatar to take action against Hamas officials or face consequences. He said, “If you don’t act, we will.” Qatar has hosted Hamas’s political office since 2012 with U.S. approval and played a key role in peace talks with Egypt and the U.S.
Meanwhile, Israel also carried out strikes in Yemen, killing 35 people, according to Houthi sources. Hamas stated that its core leadership in Qatar survived Tuesday’s attack. The group said the enemy failed to eliminate their negotiation team. Former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the Israeli decision, saying he was not informed in advance. He tried to warn Qatar, but by then, the attack had already begun.
