Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that polio eradication is a top priority of the government, stressing that collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation remains critical in achieving this national goal. He made these remarks during a meeting with Bill Gates on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The prime minister also acknowledged the Foundation’s generous contributions during natural disasters, including its active support for Pakistan’s 2025 flood relief efforts. He further recalled the vital assistance provided during the catastrophic floods of 2022, which helped the government deliver timely aid to vulnerable communities.

In addition to health initiatives, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s focus on broader reforms such as promoting digital cashless systems, implementing economic revival strategies, and ensuring inclusive growth. He praised the Gates Foundation for its constructive partnership in advancing digital transformation and financial inclusion programs that directly empower citizens.
