KMC to launch citywide fumigation drive to combat dengue, malaria

Published on: September 26, 2025 1:12 AM

In view of the rising number of dengue and malaria cases in the city following recent rains, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), under the directives of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, is launching a comprehensive fumigation drive across the city. The campaign will commence tomorrow and continue until September 28, 2025. The fumigation drive will begin at the town level and will systematically cover all union councils, in accordance with the Mayor’s instructions. This initiative aims to safeguard public health and ensure that proper hygiene and sanitation measures are implemented throughout Karachi. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the health and safety of citizens is the administration’s top priority. He directed the Senior Director Municipal Services and the Director Fumigation to personally supervise the campaign and ensure effective coverage. The Mayor further instructed that no area of the city should be left unattended, and that special focus must be given to low-lying areas and neighborhoods most affected by stagnant water following the rains. The KMC has also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the fumigation teams to ensure the successful completion of the drive. Public awareness about preventive measures, such as covering water containers and avoiding water stagnation, will also be part of the campaign. This citywide fumigation drive reflects the KMC’s continued commitment to improving municipal services and protecting the health and well-being of the people of Karachi.
