The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a new “Online E-Learners Permit” app, allowing residents to apply for learner driving permits without visiting offices.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamzah Humayun, in a video statement on X, called the initiative a major step in digital facilitation. “Citizens can now complete the entire learner permit procedure at home,” he said, urging the public to use the service. Instructions are available on the Islamabad Police website and Facebook page, while applications can be submitted at dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk
Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has also extended the deadline for obtaining valid driving licenses to October 7, 2025. From October 8, strict enforcement will begin, with drivers without valid licenses facing legal action, including possible arrest and vehicle impoundment.
Authorities said the extension was necessary to accommodate the large number of applicants. Special service desks have been set up across the city to manage demand.
Earlier in June, under IG Rizvi’s directives, ITP launched a strict enforcement drive to ensure adherence to traffic laws and maintain road safety.
