Ishaq Dar: More nations eye defense deals with Pakistan

Published on: September 29, 2025 3:35 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said more countries want defense agreements with Pakistan after its deal with Saudi Arabia. He made the statement while speaking to the media outside the Pakistan High Commission in London. Dar said Pakistan has proven its strength in recent conflicts and now aims to rise as an economic power. He stressed that the country’s growing role in global security is gaining attention. According to him, this is a sign of Pakistan’s strong and respected position.

Dar explained that the recent Pakistan-Saudi defense pact brings equal benefits to both nations. He clarified that no other country has raised concerns about the agreement. Instead, many are interested in forming similar partnerships with Pakistan. He said that Pakistan’s peaceful but strong defense policies are gaining international trust. Dar called the Saudi pact a milestone for regional stability and long-term cooperation.

The defense agreement with Saudi Arabia was signed on September 17 in Riyadh. It states that any attack on one country will be seen as an attack on both. This deal shows a deep level of military trust between the two allies. It also signals a new phase in Pakistan’s international defense diplomacy. Dar noted that this is not just symbolic, but a clear commitment to mutual security.

He added that Pakistan’s success in recent military situations has changed how the world views its defense capabilities. He mentioned that Pakistan’s armed forces acted with discipline and professionalism. As a result, countries are now more open to working with Pakistan on defense matters. Dar said these new opportunities will also boost trade and strategic cooperation. Pakistan, he added, is ready to take on a larger global role.

In closing, Dar emphasized that Pakistan’s defense position is now well-established. However, he said the real goal is economic strength and global influence. He urged national unity and smart policies to build on recent gains. The government plans to use these new partnerships to grow trade, technology, and regional stability. Dar said the future depends on both security and strong economic foundations.
