Goods worth $7.60bn exported in first quarter

The country’s merchandize exports reached to $7.603 billion during the first quarter (July-September) of the current fiscal year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported Thursday.

According to PBS figures, the exports show decline of 2.53 percent during the period when compared to the exports of $7.906 billion during July-September of last fiscal year (FY2024-25).

On the other hand, imports into the country went up by 13.49 percent, increasing from $14.954 billion last year to $16.971 billion during July-September (2025-26).

Based on the figures, the trade deficit during the first quarter was recorded at $9.368 billion against the deficit of $7.048 billion last year, showing an increase of 32.92 percent.

Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the exports in September 2025 decreased by 11.71 percent to $2.504 billion compared to $2.836 billion in September 2024.

The imports, however, witnessed an increase of 14 percent by going up from $5.127 billion in September 2024 to $5.845 billion in September 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, the exports from the country increased by 3.64 percent when compared to the exports of $2.416 billion during August 2025. The imports grew by 10.53 percent compared to the imports of $5.288 billion in August 2025, PBS reported.
