A seminar titled “Civil Service as a Career Choice in Pakistan” was organized at the Hafiz Hayat Campus by the University of Gujrat’s Student Services Center in collaboration with the Department of Political Science and International Relations. The seminar was held on the special instructions of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, with the aim of promoting practical awareness about career counseling among students.
The chief guest of the seminar was Assistant Commissioner Mandi Bahauddin, Adnan Bashir Warraich, while the session was presided over by Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt. The guests of honor included Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq (Chairperson), Shama Tahseen (In-charge, SSC), faculty members from various departments, and students.
Addressing the students, Adnan Bashir Warraich encouraged them to participate in the competitive examinations, saying that joining the civil service in Pakistan is regarded as a remarkable achievement. He emphasized that success in these exams is the reward of hard work and merit, and those who pass them are ordinary but hardworking individuals. In Eastern society, respect and honor hold great importance, and civil service is considered a prestigious position and profession. He added that fortune always favors the hardworking; persistence and determined effort are the keys to success in civil service examinations, while confidence in one’s hard work becomes the guiding light toward the destination. Students should keep their noble goals in sight and strive to make a name for themselves in the world.
He further guided students regarding subject selection, required competencies, and strategies for attempting papers in civil service examinations. Adnan Bashir Warraich also expressed his willingness to provide free, comprehensive guidance to UoG students regarding civil service exams.
Earlier, on his arrival at the university, Adnan Bashir Warraich met Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq in his office, where they discussed in detail the formulation of a comprehensive plan for student career counseling.
Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt stated that the pursuit of a better future is every individual’s fundamental right. In Pakistani society, success in civil service examinations is a matter of great honor, and those who are selected should dedicate themselves to public service. Graduates should illuminate their names in practical fields of life through hard work and merit. He urged UoG students not to shy away from appearing in the higher civil service examinations due to fear of failure.
Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq highlighted that providing facilities and guidance to students for career building is the foremost responsibility of the University of Gujrat. Under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, greater learning opportunities are being provided to students. This year, the university has arranged large-scale scholarships for deserving students, and a Career Counseling Forum is also being established to provide bright and talented students with useful guidance for participating in practical fields of life.
Dr. Ramzan Shahid, who served as the moderator of the seminar, shed light in detail on the establishment of civil services in Pakistan and their historical aspects. Students also benefited by asking insightful questions from the chief guest, Adnan Bashir Warraich, about participation, procedures, and curriculum for civil service examinations.
