Malaysian PM flags flaws in Trump’s Gaza peace plan

Published on: October 4, 2025 2:49 PM

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed concerns about Trump’s Gaza peace plan. He said the plan is incomplete and lacks key elements. Despite disagreements, Anwar emphasized that saving Palestinian lives remains the top priority. He clarified that support from Arab and Islamic countries does not mean full agreement with the plan. Instead, it is a collective effort to stop ongoing bloodshed in Gaza.

Anwar Ibrahim pointed out that backing the peace plan rejects the displacement of Palestinians. He stressed the need to allow Palestinians to return to Gaza safely. The Malaysian leader also highlighted that, despite the 20-point agreement, Israeli aggression continues. His remarks reflect wider regional skepticism about the plan’s effectiveness. Anwar called for greater focus on protecting Palestinian rights and lives.

The prime minister’s statement underlines the complexities in achieving peace in Gaza. It also shows Malaysia’s commitment to supporting humanitarian concerns over political deals. Anwar’s cautious approach mirrors concerns voiced by other Muslim-majority nations. He urged for inclusive dialogue that respects Palestinian aspirations. The peace process, he believes, must prioritize justice alongside ceasefire efforts.

Moreover, Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks signal challenges ahead for the Trump-backed initiative. They point to the need for more comprehensive and accepted solutions in the region. As tensions persist, international support for a durable peace remains crucial. Malaysia aims to play a constructive role in promoting dialogue and reconciliation. The world watches closely as peace efforts evolve amid ongoing conflict.
