Shehbaz, field marshal Munir to lead key Saudi visit

Published on: October 12, 2025 3:43 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are set to begin a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia on October 26. The high-level visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation following last month’s signing of the landmark defence treaty between the two nations in Riyadh. During the trip, both leaders will meet Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to discuss expanding strategic, economic, and security ties.

The visit carries special significance as it comes amid fast-changing global developments and escalating tensions in Gaza. Discussions are expected to cover the regional situation, humanitarian concerns, and Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability. Moreover, both sides are likely to review the outcomes of recent Saudi business delegations’ visits to Pakistan and explore new investment opportunities to boost economic relations.

A large group of Pakistani manufacturers, trade experts, and business leaders will accompany the prime minister and the army chief. They will participate in a major international conference focused on investment and economic affairs, featuring the CEOs of more than 500 renowned global companies. The event will serve as a powerful platform to attract foreign investment, promote partnerships, and highlight Pakistan’s evolving business landscape.

The conference agenda includes discussions on vital global issues such as supply chain resilience, artificial intelligence in industries, sustainability goals, and future energy needs. Participants will also examine how countries can adapt to geopolitical shifts and discover emerging markets for economic growth. Through active engagement, the forum aims to create new pathways for cooperation between global investors and Pakistani enterprises.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to renew Pakistan’s invitation for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Islamabad. The leadership hopes this visit will further solidify the partnership between the two brotherly countries, opening new chapters in defence, trade, and investment cooperation. With shared goals and growing mutual trust, the visit promises to deepen Pakistan-Saudi ties in multiple dimensions.
