Sindh, Iran agree to boost trade, tourism, and direct flights

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Iran’s new Consul General Akbar Isa Zadeh in Karachi. Both sides agreed to enhance trade, tourism, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. The Chief Minister congratulated the Consul General on his new role and welcomed him to Sindh. He said Iran is a brotherly Muslim country with deep historical and cultural ties with Pakistan.

The Iranian Consul General thanked the Chief Minister for his warm welcome and expressed sorrow over flood damages in Sindh. He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen regional partnerships. Both leaders agreed that stronger cooperation would benefit both countries. The meeting reflected mutual respect and commitment to long-term collaboration.

During the meeting, both sides decided to increase trade between Karachi and Iran from five to ten billion rupees. They also discussed holding joint trade exhibitions to boost business opportunities. The Consul General said Karachi plays a key role in regional trade and deserves greater international exposure. Both agreed to use media to promote cultural connections between the two nations.

The Chief Minister and the Consul General also agreed to collaborate in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. Murad Ali Shah said provincial ministers from these sectors would soon meet the Iranian officials. He added that such partnerships could strengthen food production and resource management. This cooperation aims to bring innovation and growth to both sides.

Finally, both leaders agreed to start direct flights between Karachi and Tehran to facilitate travelers and pilgrims. Murad Ali Shah said private airlines would be encouraged to launch the routes soon. The Iranian Consul General invited the Chief Minister to visit Iran on behalf of the Iranian ambassador. Murad Ali Shah accepted the invitation and said he would visit soon to further deepen bilateral relations.
