Pakistan’s sacrifices in war on terror appreciated: US envoy

Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, met with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in key sectors. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties, especially in counterterrorism and regional peace efforts.

During the meeting, Minister Naqvi praised US President Donald Trump’s sincere efforts in achieving the Gaza peace agreement, saying that lasting peace in the Middle East is a result of his leadership. He highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to global peace and its ongoing role as a front-line state in the fight against terrorism.

Naqvi said Pakistan has paid a heavy price in the war against terror to make the world safer. He added that the country’s security forces, police, and citizens have made immense sacrifices for this cause.

In response, Ambassador Baker expressed deep sorrow over recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan and acknowledged the nation’s sacrifices. She said the United States values Pakistan’s role and will continue its cooperation to strengthen joint efforts against terrorism.

Minister Naqvi also welcomed investment from American companies, particularly in Pakistan’s mineral and industrial sectors. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner, IG, and DC, highlighting the importance of the discussion for Pakistan-US relations.
