ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday announced the Roshan Economy Electricity Package to provide additional electricity to the industrial and agricultural sectors at a subsidized rate of Rs 22.98 per unit for the next three years.
The package, set to be implemented from November 2025 to October 2028, will reduce the existing power tariff of Rs 34 per unit for industry and Rs 38 per unit for agriculture to a uniform Rs 22.98 per unit.

Speaking at a meeting with experts from the industry and agriculture sectors and representatives of the business community, the prime minister clarified that domestic consumers or other sectors would not bear the financial impact of the package.
He appreciated Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for formulating the initiative, terming it a crucial step toward economic development, industrial growth, and job creation.
Shehbaz Sharif said the government was focused on enhancing competitiveness in regional markets and facilitating businesses to boost productivity and exports.
Recalling last year’s winter electricity package, the premier highlighted that the industrial and agricultural sectors consumed 410 gigawatts of additional electricity, which contributed to increased exports and employment opportunities.

“The journey from economic crisis to stability has been challenging but achievable through consistent effort and cooperation,” he remarked. “Strengthening the industry and agriculture sectors will help Pakistan overcome its reliance on loans.”
He said the country’s economic indicators had improved owing to prudent government policies and urged all stakeholders to continue working together for a self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan.
