
NARAN – Northern Pakistan is witnessing a sharp drop in temperatures as snowfall intensifies across Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, trapping vehicles and disrupting travel in several mountainous regions. Snow continues intermittently over the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, with heavy flurries reported on the Babusar Pass, Nanga Parbat, and Batogah peaks. More than a dozen vehicles have been stranded due to the accumulation of snow.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, snowfall has been recorded in Swat, Dir, and Kalam, while the Upper Hazara Division experienced its first winter rain and hailstorm, plunging temperatures and dimming daylight under thick clouds. The popular hill stations of Ayubia, Nathiagali, and Changlagali have received 2 to 3 inches of snow, attracting tourists but also raising safety concerns.

Meanwhile, rain and snowfall from Muzaffarabad to the Neelum Valley have further intensified the chill. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of continued rain and snowfall across parts of KP and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel. District administrations have been instructed to remain on high alert and ensure precautionary measures are in place.
