CJCSC Gen Mirza visits Brunei to strengthen defence ties
LAHORE – Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza conducted high-level meetings with the Sultan of Brunei and top Brunei officials during an official visit on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

General Shamshad met Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, along with Brunei’s Minister at the PM’s Office and Defence-II, Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan. Discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security environment and the intent to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

During the visit, the CJCSC toured KDB Darulaman at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, delivering a talk on “Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability.” He also interacted with students of the command and staff course, including officers from 19 foreign countries.

The ISPR noted that Brunei’s sultan and civil-military leadership appreciated the professional standards of Pakistan’s armed forces and their efforts in countering terrorism. General Shamshad was received with a Guard of Honour at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces headquarters.

This visit follows the CJCSC’s recent trip to Bangladesh, where he engaged with senior military leaders to enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
