Arrest warrants issued for former AJK PM Tanveer Ilyas

Arrest warrants issued for Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in diplomatic passport case
ISLAMABAD – A district and sessions court has issued arrest warrants for former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas over the diplomatic passport case. The decision follows the rejection of Ilyas’ request for exemption from personal appearance in court.

Judicial Magistrate Ahmad Shehzad Gondal presided over the proceedings, during which Ilyas’ legal team sought permission for him not to appear in person. The court denied the request and ordered that Ilyas be taken into custody and presented before the bench.

The case, filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), centers on allegations of misuse of a diplomatic passport. Authorities are investigating the circumstances under which Ilyas allegedly used the passport for unauthorized purposes.

The court has postponed further proceedings until November 24, awaiting the former AJK premier’s appearance. The arrest warrants mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation and have raised political and legal attention in the region.
