Sehar Khan backs Saba Qamar, slams cyberbullying and online defamation

Published on: November 10, 2025 3:13 PM

Sehar Khan hopes Saba Qamar makes sure journalist Naeem Hanif ‘truly learns his lesson’

KARACHI – Actor Sehar Khan has come out in strong support of Saba Qamar, a week after the Kamli star sent a legal notice to journalist Naeem Hanif for defamatory remarks made against her on his YouTube channel. Khan took to social media on Monday to denounce online harassment and remind people of the consequences of committing cybercrimes.

In her post, Khan said she had “lost respect for those who speak without thinking,” condemning the culture of online slander. She criticized Hanif’s history of targeting women, recalling his comments about TikTok creator Sana Yousaf and model Qandeel Baloch, both victims of murder. Calling his remarks “shameful” and “disgusting,” she urged awareness of cybercrime laws under Section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), which penalizes online defamation with fines or imprisonment.

Khan also revealed she is involved in a project promoting cyber safety and praised Qamar for taking a bold stand. “Words can harm or heal — choose them wisely,” she wrote, emphasizing the need for empathy and accountability online.

Meanwhile, veteran actor Meera voiced her support for Hanif, describing him as “a man of principles” and accusing Qamar of “messing with the wrong person.” Despite her stance, most celebrities, including Khan, have rallied behind Qamar, lauding her decision to challenge toxic online behavior.
