Historic blast: Choudhary hits 8 sixes in first-class cricket

Published on: November 10, 2025 5:41 PM

In a first-class match in India, fast bowler Akash Kumar Choudhary created history by hitting eight consecutive sixes. He scored a half-century in just 11 balls, setting two records in a single match. His performance amazed fans and cricket experts, as he achieved this while batting at number eight.

Choudhary became only the third player in first-class cricket to hit six sixes in one over. He accomplished this feat against Arunachal Pradesh during a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match. Meghalaya, his team, had already scored 576 runs for six wickets before he came to bat. His innings added a spectacular finish to the already high-scoring match.

He started his innings with a dot ball and two singles. Then, facing left-arm spinner Lemer Dabi, he smashed six sixes in one over. This remarkable achievement placed him alongside cricket legends like Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri. His aggressive batting style turned the game into a thrilling spectacle.

In the following over, Choudhary hit two more sixes off off-spinner TNR Mohit. He completed his half-century in 11 balls, breaking the previous record of 12 balls. The old record was held by Ven White of Leicestershire, set in 2012 against Essex. This made Choudhary’s performance one of the fastest in cricket history.
