Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday vowed that no obstacle would be allowed to hinder Pakistan’s path to progress and prosperity. Addressing the National Assembly after the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
He urged the Afghan Taliban regime to curb the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), stressing that Pakistan had hosted Afghans for 40 years and now expected responsible action in return.
The prime minister said the establishment of the Constitutional Court had fulfilled a 19-year-old dream and reflected the spirit of the Charter of Democracy. He appreciated the opposition’s right to disagree but urged political leaders to move beyond hostility and work together for national development. “If provinces are strong, the federation will be stronger,” he said, echoing Bilawal Bhutto’s remarks and praising Parliament for demonstrating unity.

Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan’s global standing had improved through bold decisions and strong diplomatic efforts. He lauded the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto for representing Pakistan’s position effectively on international platforms. The premier said that the title of Field Marshal conferred upon Army Chief General Asim Munir reflected the nation’s respect for its heroes.
Referring to recent terror attacks, including the Wana Cadet College and Islamabad court incidents, Shehbaz paid tribute to the security forces for rescuing hostages and fighting bravely. He said the attacks reminded the nation of the tragic APS incident and confirmed that foreign elements were behind the current wave of terrorism, naming India, the banned BLA, and TTP as culprits in recent strikes such as the Jaffar Express bombing.
