Report: Faiz Hameed used Bushra Bibi to influence Imran Khan

Published on: November 15, 2025 5:32 PM

ISLAMABAD: A British magazine report has accused former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed of using Bushra Bibi for political leverage. The report claims the ISI did not arrange the marriage between Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan. However, it suggests the agency benefited from their relationship.

According to the report, some senior officials, including retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, reportedly complained that Imran Khan listened too much to his wife. Bushra Bibi’s influence was said to affect Imran Khan’s decision-making and reform agenda. Certain rituals and practices at Khan’s residence were cited as evidence of her spiritual impact.

The report further notes that the 2019 removal of then-ISI chief General Asim Munir was linked to Bushra Bibi. Allegedly, she presented evidence of corruption to Imran Khan, influencing internal military decisions. Some PTI leaders reportedly believe she could mediate reconciliation between Khan and the army.

However, party insiders claim that key figures, including Khan’s sister Alima Khan, opposed reconciliation with the military. The report portrays internal party divisions over strategy and influence within PTI. Analysts suggest this reveals tensions between personal relationships and political decision-making.

The magazine’s findings add to the controversy surrounding PTI’s leadership and Bushra Bibi’s role. The report has sparked criticism and legal threats from the party against the publication. Observers say the allegations could impact public perception of Pakistan’s political and intelligence circles.
