UAE hit by thick fog, alerts issued

Published on: November 20, 2025 4:53 PM

The United Arab Emirates is facing extreme fog, prompting authorities to issue red and yellow alerts across the country. Visibility in Dubai and Abu Dhabi has dropped sharply, causing dangerous driving conditions. Officials have urged residents and commuters to exercise caution while traveling during this severe weather event.

In Dubai, several areas report visibility so low that driving has become risky. Authorities warned that fog density may increase further, reducing sightlines and slowing traffic. Dubai Police advised motorists to drive slowly and carefully, highlighting the risk of accidents in heavy fog.

Abu Dhabi has also experienced thick fog, with authorities reducing speed limits on multiple highways. Automated speed control systems have been activated on major roads to enforce safe driving. Drivers are reminded that breaking speed limits during this alert could result in fines or penalties.

Meteorologists explained that dense fog can disrupt daily routines and traffic flow, urging the public to plan travel accordingly. Residents are also advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement until conditions improve. Officials continue to monitor the situation and issue timely updates for public safety.

Authorities emphasized that these measures aim to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic movement. They encouraged drivers to follow all guidelines, including reduced speeds and cautious driving, until the fog clears.
