QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Wednesday postponed the hearing on several constitutional petitions challenging the newly enacted Mines and Minerals Act 2025. The adjournment came after the provincial government requested additional time to submit its response.
A two-member bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Kamran Khan Mulakhail and Justice Muhammad Ayub Tareen, heard petitions filed by former senator Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani and multiple political parties. The petitions contest various provisions of the new Act.

Assistant Attorney General Muhammad Anwar Naseem Kasi appeared for the federal government, while Assistant Advocate General Zahoor Ahmed Baloch represented the Balochistan government. The provincial side sought more time to respond, especially regarding Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti’s statement on the suspension of the Act.
The court accepted the request for extension and adjourned the hearing to a later date, allowing the provincial government to file its detailed reply.
