Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi wrote to Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz over Imran Khan visitation issues. He cited alleged manhandling of the former PM’s sisters. Afridi also raised concerns about obstruction of court-mandated visitation rights at Adiala Jail. The letter urged immediate corrective action to safeguard family rights and dignity.
Afridi noted that judicial directions clearly govern visitation schedules. Despite this, authorities repeatedly obstructed Imran’s authorised visitors. Reports indicated rough treatment of his sisters during attempts to meet him. Afridi called the actions unacceptable and legally baseless.

The KP chief minister demanded safe and dignified waiting areas for visitors. He criticized the practice of forcing family members to sit on roads. Afridi asked the Punjab government to hold responsible individuals accountable for obstructing or manhandling visitors. He stressed orderly, respectful, and legally compliant facilitation of all future meetings.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 in a £190 million corruption case. He also faces trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act for May 9, 2023 protests. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan expressed concern over the alleged manhandling of his sisters. HRCP called for a transparent inquiry and protection of visitor rights.
